Jim Jonas

Jim Jonas joined Life Cycle Geo as a Principal Consultant in May 2023 with over 20 years of experience in mine site characterization, remediation, and water treatment. Jim has extensive experience in creating conceptual site models and developing/implementing remediation strategies as part of a multidisciplinary team. The skills he brings to the team include developing sampling and analysis plans (often following the DQO process); collecting multi-media samples (air, soil, sediment, water, biota); designing, installing and maintaining remote instrumentation; data management; geochemical modeling; stochastic modeling; statistical analysis; exploratory data analysis; geospatial analysis; and data visualization. Jim has been a commercial UAV pilot for over five years using UAVs to collect imagery/photogrammetry and is a co-inventor of a patented water sampling attachment designed specifically for pit lakes.

Jim believes that technological innovations over the past decade have matured to the point that they should be applied to geoscience problems such that automated data collection and secured wireless transmission can directly feed real-time predictive tools which will ultimately lead to reduced risk, optimized treatment, and lower operational costs. Jim enjoys soaring in his sailplanes—via extracting unseen energy from the atmosphere—above the Rocky Mountains and is passionate about sharing his flying knowledge as a certified flight instructor with students of all ages.
